Analysis and classification of highlights in multimedia content has become an important field of study in recent years as a consequence of the growing number of multimedia databases. Research in this area has focused primarily on the use of audio and image information. Basketball matches are composed of audio and video content with a duration longer than one hour. Thus, manually seeking for highlights implies browsing through the whole video until finding the desired event, which may take long searching periods of time. In order to overcome such issue, highlights detection is proposed as a tool that automatically solves this manually based search"
